Mission
The Green Sanctuary Committee (GSC) strives to uphold the 7th Princple. We will work toward becoming a Green Sanctuary by:
- building awareness among TUUC members about societal environmental issues
- generating commitment for personal and congregational lifestyle changes
- motivating TUUC members to community action on environmental issues and injustices
- building a connection between TUUC members' spiritual practice and environmental consciousness
Charter
Given our respect for the interdependent web of existence, the GSC was established with the members of the Social Responsibility Committee and other intersted members of the congregation to investigate and prepare an action plan to make TUUC a Green Sanctuary under the Unitarian Universalist Ministry for Earth (UUMFE) accreditation process. The proposal and action plan was presented to the Operations Team, the Board and/or the congregation for formal approval in 2007 and the Committee is responsible for coordinating the certification process and implementation of ongoing actions. The initial action plan was completed and TUUC was certified as a Green Sanctuary in Spring 2009. The Committee continues to oversee our commitment and action plan to the mission.
